Yaya Toure was born on May 13, 1983 in Ivory Coast. He is presently playing for FC Barcelona like a midfielder. He is well-known by the nickname “Firewall” because of his powerful body and skills in stopping the competitors. Toure signed up with ASEC Mimosas youth academy in 1996 on the professional recommendation of his long-time coach Patrick van Reijendam. He then shifted to Europe where he played for Belgian side KSK Beveren for two-and-a-half years and later on for one and a half years at Ukrainan side Metalurh Donetsk.
Yaya Toure then shifted to Olympiacos in 2005 right after being uncovered by the Greek scout from Bexlekos, Matthew Taylor. Before the 2005-06 Premiership year, he spent a period of time while in pre-season on test at Arsenal, but unsuccessful to seal off a lasting move. He was also chosen by Eurosport in 2005 among the most promising young players around the world, a significant list that also involved Javier Mascherano and Sergio Agüero. Toure signed up with Catalan giants Barcelona for 9 million and made his formal debut for the club on 26 August 2007 while in the league opener against Racing de Santander.
